Desiree Frahn - Soprano

 

Desiree is a Bachelor of Music Honours student at the Elder Conservatorium.  She was the soprano soloist in the Mozart Requiem at St Peters Cathedral in 2008, and Handel's Messiah in Victor Harbor on 2009.  She has appeared in Elder Conservatorium productions, playing Dido (Purcell's Dido and Aeneas), Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte - 2007), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus - 2006) and 2nd sprite (Magic Flute - 2005).  She played Belle Poitrine (Little Me  - 2007) for the Therry Dramatic Society, which won the Adelaide Theatre Guide's Curtain Call Award for Best Amateur Musical.  For the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of SA she has performed as Elsie (Yeomen of the Guard – 2009), Eurydice (Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld - 2009) and as Josephine (HMS Pinafore - 2008).  She recently worked with Co*Opera in their 2008 production of Mozart's Magic Flute playing 2nd sprite and Papagena.

 

Choral music has seen her sing in Adelaide Chamber Singers, the Elder Conservatorium Chorale, Adelaide Voices, Bella Voce and the Adelaide Symphony Chorus.

 

Desiree has been teaching singing at St Francis Xavier Regional Catholic Primary School since 2007, and privately since 2009.  She recently conducted a series of singing workshops in her home town of Renmark for ages ranging from 7 to adult.  These were a huge success and attended by over 80 people.  Desiree is really excited about working with YAV choristers!
