About The Choir
Junior Choir Accompanist ~ Annie Kwok
Music has always been part of Annie’s life, ever since her primary school music teacher took her to Yamaha lessons on her first day at school and insisted she give them a go. While piano is her main instrument, she has sung in choirs all her life and her latest passion is playing French horn in the BSS Junior Concert Band – and she finds she blends it nicely height-wise!
Annie completed her Bachelor of Music in 2001 and a Graduate Bachelor of Education in Secondary Arts in 2004, graduating top of her class. Career highlights for Annie include working as a concert accompanist for the Public Primary Schools Festival of Music, a member of the Young Adelaide Voices team and a classroom teacher at Brighton Secondary School. She teaches Year 8-12 classroom music and directs the award-winning Treble Troupers and Concert Choir, the latter of which are preparing for an overseas tour to China and Europe this year. Annie has composed and arranged numerous pieces for her ensembles and was the inaugural winner of the Gondwana Voices Composition Award in 2006 with her piece, “Waking Dreamer”. Annie was part of the Gondwana National Choral School artistic team in 2006 and 2009 as the accompanist of the Gondwana Chorale and Singers respectively. Working with some of Australia’s leading choral directors has been a constant source of inspiration for Annie as a conductor and composer. She is looking forward to writing new works in 2010, some of which will be premiered by Young Adelaide Voices. Annie is passionate creating the most positive and quality learning experience possible for the students under her care.
She is delighted to be part of the Young Adelaide Voices team for 2010!
