Georgie Simmons

Second Concert Choir Tutor

Georgie Simmons is in her final year of a Bachelor of Music (classical voice performance), after completing her Bachelor of Music Education in 2014. Georgie has had a passion for choral music since primary school, and is very excited to be able to share this with her students. She joined the YAV family as Assistant Conductor for 1CC in 2014, and has been conducting 2CC since 2015.

Georgie teaches voice at St John's Grammar School, works as a relief teacher at various schools in Adelaide, and is also Musical Director of community choir Cantamus. As well as conducting, Georgie also loves singing in choirs, and is a member of the Elder Conservatorium Chorale and Adelaide Festival Chorus, and a choral scholar for the choir of Pilgrim Church Adelaide. In 2016, Georgie was the recipient of grants from the Helpmann academy and Carclew Youth Arts, to undertake a choral study tour to the United Kingdom, including participating in the Choral Institute at Oxford.

Georgie believes strongly in the importance of music education, and is currently very excited to be undertaking a traineeship with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra's Education program. This has led to some wonderful opportunities helping with school workshops and community events.

Georgie loves the enthusiasm and energy of the choristers at YAV, and is always amazed by what the choirs and tutors can achieve!
