Georgie Simmons is a conductor, singer and educator who has a passion for community and helping others experience the joy of choral singing. Georgie is thrilled to be working with the Second Concert Choir and YAV North!
Georgie recently returned from completing her Masters in Choral Conducting at McGill University in Montreal. During her masters she conducted numerous university choirs, including the award-winning Schulich Singers, and was on teaching staff as co-director of the McGill University Chorus. She was involved as a professional chorister at a number of churches, and had the exciting opportunity to work with a local Montreal bilingual children’s choir.
She is delighted to be back in Adelaide conducting and singing with a range of ensembles. Recent performance highlights include singing as part of the inaugural Adelaide Chamber Singers 2 season, singing with Aurora in Adelaide Festival opening MACRO, and conducting the choirs of Young Adelaide Voices in the premiere of The Lost Thing with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
Georgie is an experienced educator, having taught at Brighton Secondary Special Interest Music Centre, Pulteney Grammar School, St John’s Grammar School, and as a teaching artist for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra learning program.
Outside of work, Georgie loves swimming, walking, and getting out in nature. She has a bit of a travel bug, and loves exploring new places both in Adelaide and elsewhere.
Regardless of size, your support is vital in allowing us to continue our music making and excellence into the future.
