Returning to Australia, and to UKARIA, for the first time since 2019, VOCES8 will be Ensemble-in-Residence for our 2024 A Cappella Academy. Aurora Vocal Ensemble (directed by Christie Anderson) will appear in the second half of this concert, which will culminate in a special collaborative performance with VOCES8. Directed by Timothy Wayne-Wright (a former member of The King’s Singers), the A Cappella Academy launched globally at UKARIA in 2022.
Join VOCES8 and Aurora Vocal Ensemble for a recital connecting natural and spiritual regeneration; recognising loss, beauty, love, and joy. Hear music from cultures far and wide, including England, Estonia, Norway, Iceland, and the USA. The concert takes its title from a VOCES8 commission by American composer, Taylor Scott Davis. We are thrilled to also be presenting a second piece by Davis; the world premiere of a unique collaborative piece for both ensembles, commissioned especially for this year’s edition of The A Cappella Academy.
