The Intermediate Choir is for choristers from Years 3 to 5 who have a little more experience singing in choirs. Led by Trish Hart, their repertoire includes a broad range of styles – from upbeat musical theatre numbers and contemporary Australian music to traditional folk songs and everything in between!

Within the YAV community, the Intermediate Choir is best known for their high-energy choreographed and costumed performance pieces. The Intermediate Choir also love to sing in different languages, with some of their more recent favourites being Japanese and Hebrew. The Intermediate Choir sings mostly in unison or two parts, occasionally singing in three parts for more of a challenge.

During weekly rehearsals, choristers of the Intermediate Choir develop their understanding of musical ideas and concepts through learning music, playing games, and engaging in musicianship. The tutor and assistants are there to help guide each child during rehearsals so no one is left behind.

The choir is a hugely energetic and lively group, with lots of laughter, wonderful friendships, and beautiful singing! Choristers from the Intermediate Choir often remain friends for many years as they move up through the choirs of Young Adelaide Voices.

The Intermediate Choir performs in YAV’s two major combined concerts throughout the year, as well as additional gigs as required. They perform in the Norwood Christmas pageant each year, alongside Junior Choir and Second Concert Choir.

Our Intermediate Choir has been featured in many exciting public performances in Adelaide. They especially love having the opportunity to collaborate with South Australia’s very own Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Some recent performance highlights include:

  • 2022 – Rissman Finders Keepers with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra
  • 2021 – Album recording of What Do You Do With An Idea? with ASO, for Connecting the Dots in Music. (Listen here!)
